rental carTraveling is not all fun and games when we talk about how we’re going to get from a destination to another. But, it won’t always be if you rent a car. While it may sound a bit of a concern on the budget, apparently, you can save more. Yes, you read that right. And, aside from the money that you can get to save once you rent a car as you travel, you can also get to save more time and effort. But, before you rent a car, there are some things you need to know first. And don’t worry, we got your back as we can give you some tips that you need to know first when renting a car.

Without further ado, here are some things you need to take note of:

  1. Book early

Once you’ve already locked your travel dates, make sure to book a rental car sooner than later because even in car rental services, the economics of supply and demand are still at play. If you leave your reservation too late, like 48 hours before your arrival, you are at risk of having very few options available in terms of the price and model. This is an even more major issue during the summer season. Last-minute rentals are always possible, though. But if you’re on a limited budget and want to save more money, we suggest that you book sooner so you won’t miss out on deals too.

  1. Always check the small print

It might be tempting to book a rental car right away once you see the cheapest deal. However, don’t forget to look at the small print before you hit that book button. This is because there might be some hidden charges. For instance, with airlines, some rental companies may offer extremely cheap prices up front but if you’re going to take a closer look, they try to make up difference with stingy onerous fuel policies, mileage allowances, and less-than- fair damage review process.

  1. Check the car

It is also a must to inspect the car before booking it and even as you get it. Doing so will make you more familiar with what you will be driving. Also, as it is handed over to you, make sure to do some inspections if there are any issue before the staff leaves so you will not be charged for the damages that were already there in the first place or to avoid issues that would compromise your vacation.
