Zumba is a dance fitness that is really entertaining and is enjoyed by all ages.  More than ten million people are currently enrolled in the program all over the world.

This Colombian dance helps those people who would like to lose weight.  Zumba is a combination of aerobic and dance steps from salsa, samba, merengue, hip hop and mambo.

Zumba is from a Colombian word that means “to move fast and have fun”.  It can burn 500-1000 calories in an hour depending on the performance of an individual. It also helps improve  flexibility, tone, posture and balance.

The first Zumba dance steps were choreographed by Alberto “Beto” Perez in year 1990. It all began when Perez forgot his aerobic music tape for his aerobics class. So what he did was used Latin music on that daywhich everyone enjoyed.

Each Zumba class usually last for an hour and consists of exercises accompanied by slow and fast music. All instructors must first get a licence from the Zumba Academy before teaching the fitness program.
