The psychology of happiness has been extensively studied and understood.
In fact, there’s a significant breakthrough in terms of research in the past half century. It is within every person’s right to be happy, regardless of the factors that make one become one.
Even though there’s a wide variety of things to consider in order to become happy, happiness as a general concept seems to be influenced or brought by certain scientific explanations and facts.
Here are some of those facts that you may find very interesting:
– Research refutes the notion that one’s genes and type of family upbringing dictate a person’s view on happiness. The fact is both only account for about half of the happiness level of an individual.
– However, there’s only ten percent of a typical person’s happiness that comes from external events or circumstances.
– The outlook of the person’s life and the decisions he makes will account for about forty percent of the happiness levels. In this aspect belongs the factors of work, community, and friendship.
– According to a survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2005, it’s easier to become happy as a person ages. This is based on the data showing that those who belong to the age bracket of 20-24 are usually sad for almost 4 days a month while those in the senior age group of 65-74 are only sad 3 days a month.
– Embracing a routine of 20-minute exercises at least three days a week will increase the happiness levels of up to 20 percent in six months.
– Happy people are able to generate more antibodies than those who are always sad.
